Black Manop for Sale at Aug. 29 Open House
There is a lot of excitement building around our Saturday, Aug. 29 Open House because of our first-time offering of our Black Manop plumeria.
We sourced this deep-red plumeria directly from Thailand several months back, and since that time we’ve been inundated with requests for the variety also known in Thailand as Madam Pho Black.

Black Manop Description
The Black Manop, also known in its native Thailand as Madam Pho Black, can be hard to produce flowers or have them fully bloom without manually opening the plant. What makes it so desirable is its prominent dark red petals – often a conversation piece.
How to Get Your Hands on the Black Manop?
1) Buy anything from the Open House before 9:30am. This could be something as small as a bag of fertilizer.
2) At 9:30am we’ll do a random draw of 10 names. These 10 people will be able to buy one of the 10 Black Manop.
Origin of the Black Manop Plumeria Name
It is unclear the exact origin of the Black Manop, but it is known to mean “black” in Thai. It could also be relevant to the Thai person, collector or breeder associated with the cultivar, rather than a Thai word meaning “black.”
Does Black Manop Have a Scent?
The Black Manop does not have a well-documented scent, but has been known to align with general plumeria characteristics, including a sweet floral tropical perfume. Most exotic dark cultivars lean more toward a soft, sweet or moderately perfumed floral notes and not overpowering citrus.
Southern Blooms Reporting
Mac, our Grower at Southern Blooms, said we’ve had the cultivar for about three months and with proper fertilization we have seen an increase in plant growth.
“We talked to the original grower and he’s made leaps and bounds with this plant getting it to have a nice inflow that holds the flower buds and opens to 40-50%. The images we posted are the ones where the original grower has physically opened the flower up,” Mac said.
